The event will tackle Cloud Computing: Key trends, market opportunities and impact in societal needs, and economic growth
Lisbon, August 11th, 2014 – CloudCatalyst is proud to announce its first annual event on September 26th 2014, in Bled, Slovenia, in association with the European funded projects SUCRE, OCEAN, and CloudForEurope.
“We are delighted to announce CloudCatalyst’s first annual event, which will be organised in a joint effort with three other European funded projects. This collaboration is key for us and will further increase the networking and knowledge available to the attendees. One of the major aims of this conference is to serve as a vehicle to deliver interesting opportunities to the new generation of European business start-ups and SMEs”, explains Andreia Jesus, Project Coordinator.
Cloud computing and open source software are seen as major enablers for innovation in ICT, and are increasingly gaining momentum. Given such proliferation of cloud solutions at a global scale, it becomes imperative that Europe not only capitalizes on these trends and the established results but, more importantly, leads the way in fostering innovation in those areas, with the goal to improve the competitiveness of EU businesses and the well-being of its citizens. In doing so, Europe needs to collaborate at an international level with other parts of the world where Cloud computing thrives, and which affect its ongoing development efforts.
The conference will address topics related to the adoption of Cloud Computing in Europe and the challenges that still need to be addressed. It will also examine how open clouds can serve the societal needs across Europe, through their uptake by key European sectors, such as the public administrations and the healthcare industry.
“This conference will gather some of the most qualified and renowned experts from the field of Cloud Computing in Europe. We are proud to welcome keynote speakers such as Ken Ducatel, Head of Unit, Software and Services, Cloud Computing at DG Connect, EU Commission”, says Dalibor Baskovc, Dissemination Manager.
